1. How does the Butter Shears Membership work?
Our Butter Shears Membership is a quarterly subscription that keeps your shears razor-sharp and ready to perform. For just $40 every 3 months, you receive:
- On-site sharpening every quarter (4x/year)
- A professional, 12-step sharpening method
- 30-minute turnaround at your salon or studio
- Access to priority scheduling

2. Is this only available in Utah?
Yes, we currently offer mobile on-site shear sharpening in Salt Lake County and Utah County only. If you're outside these areas, click here for a mail-in sharpening.
3. How much does one-time sharpening cost?
A one-time shear sharpening service is $50, which includes:
- Our signature 12-step sharpening method
- On-site service at your location
- A sharpness guarantee—if it’s not right, we’ll fix it

4. What kinds of shears do you sharpen?
We sharpen all professional-grade hair cutting shears, including:
- Japanese and convex edge shears

- Curved or specialty blades

6. How do I schedule my sharpening?
After purchase or membership signup, we’ll reach out via text to schedule your appointment at your convenience. Our team comes directly to your salon or barbershop, and most appointments take just 30 minutes.
7. Do I need to be present during the sharpening?
Nope! If you're not in, you can leave your shears at the front desk for us to pick up.
You're welcome to work while we sharpen—we'll bring a full setup and even provide loaner shears if needed.
8. Can I cancel my membership anytime?
Yes, you can cancel anytime before your next renewal. No hidden fees or commitments—we’re here to make your life easier, not trickier.
If you signed up on a free trial, you have a 2-service minimum subscription.
9. Do you sell professional shears too?
We sure do! As sharpeners, we have strong opinions on shear quality so we wholesale our favorite shears. When you shop our shears you will see transparent metal quality and countries of origin.
