The no-line blend, with no line. Period.

I'm Jun. I sharpen shears for a living, and I built Butter from years of fixing the tools hair pros depend on every day. This is the blend I reach for when someone wants to take weight out and leave no line behind at all. The video on this page is my wife cutting with these, so you can see the no-line finish for yourself. Watch it before you decide.

Right-handed · 35 teeth
Removes about 7% of the hair's density for a clean, invisible no-line finish.
Left-handed · 30 teeth
The same no-line blend built for left-handed hair pros. Removes about 10% of density.
Steel: AG16 cobalt
Hardness: 61 HRC
Edge: true convex
Durability: 400+ cutting hours between sharpenings
Construction: Forged, not cast
Try it for 30 days. If it isn't right for your hand, send it back. These carry a lifetime manufacturer warranty, and I answer every message myself.

Blending & texturizing

How much do you want to remove?

All our thinners are measured by how much density they take out. This pair is a no-line blend. It softens and removes weight while leaving zero visible line in the hair.

The real cost

The cheap shear is the most expensive shear you can buy

Full-time hair pro, 40 hrs/week, $50 per sharpening. Budget shears repurchased every 2–3 years.

Butter Shears · ~$400 best value
Sharpenings per year 2x
Lifespan 10+ years
10-year total cost ~$1,400 lowest
Budget shear · ~$150
Sharpenings per year 6x
Lifespan 2–3 years
10-year total cost ~$3,600 $2,200 more
Premium brand · ~$1,200
Sharpenings per year 2x
Lifespan 10+ years
10-year total cost ~$2,200 $800 more

Butter Shears saves you ~$2,200 vs a budget shear over 10 years. The premium brand costs $800 more upfront for the same edge life and sharpening frequency — money that never comes back. One shear. One time.

The steel, explained

What AG16 steel actually means

The HRC number is the Rockwell Hardness rating — the higher it is, the harder the steel, the finer the edge, and the longer it stays sharp. Most brands won't tell you what's in the blade.

Budget steel · 420 grade ~52–55 HRC

Dulls fast. Needs frequent sharpening to stay usable.

Premium · VG-10 Japanese 59–60 HRC

What most $400–$850 shears are built on. The industry standard for premium.

AG16 cobalt · Japanese 61 HRC

Higher cobalt than VG-10. 400+ cutting hours between sharpenings.

Price doesn't tell you a shear is good

Brands charge whatever they want for their name. What actually matters is the steel, the edge, and how it's built. Ours is the same grade the big names put in $850 shears. You get the build without paying for the logo.

🛡  30-day happiness guarantee — not right for your hand, send it back

⭐  Lifetime manufacturer warranty on every shear

"Every pair is sharpened and checked by hand before it ships. If something's ever off, you message me and I answer it myself."

60-Second Shear Quiz

FAQ's

Picking a length

5.5" is best for detail work and close precision cutting.

6" is the most popular all-around length. It works for most cutting styles and hand sizes.

6.85"-7" suits pros who do a lot of volume, big chops, or scissor-over-comb work. The long blade helps you move quickly through your work

Not sure? The shear size guide has a full breakdown.

Let's talk about the price

This is not a normal price for shears of this quality. Name brands charge 3x for the same build quality and metal.

Sometimes they won't even disclose the quality and you are buying Amazon-quality shears for a luxury price point. Criminal, we know.

We have sharpened thousands of shears. We know what holds up and what doesn't. Trust us when we say, these are top-quality, long-lasting shears with VG-10 or AG-16 steel and a ball-bearing tension system built to keep out hair and grime.

No fast dulling shears. No clogged shears.

What if I don't like it once I get it?

Your shears come with a 30-day happiness guarantee. If the shear isn't the right fit (wrong size, wrong feel, not what you expected) contact us within 30 days for a full refund. No runaround.

Every shear also carries a lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects.

How long will the edge hold?

With proper care, VG-10 or AG-16 Japanese steel holds an edge for 400+ cutting hours between sharpenings.

The signs it's time: Resistance that wasn't there before.

When it's time for a sharpening we are here for you!

Do I need to do anything when it arrives?

Check the tension before your first use.

How to check: A properly tensioned shear should hold its own weight when the blade is opened to 90°. It should not close all the way shut, making a small peace sign ✌️

Saying OBSESSED would be an understatement. For how affordable they are I didn’t think they would end up being my all time favorite shears! They are AMAZING quality. AMAZING QUALITY. they’re all I gravitate towards. I have 4 pairs of hanzo’s and these are bar far my favorite. Idk how else to hype up the love I have for these, but you won’t regret getting them. Grab a couple pairs while you’re at it.

Right-Handed / 5.5"

I took the survey from an ig ad out of curiosity and the next day Jun the owner called me personally and we had a long conversation about what shears would be best for me. I have been using my shears for a couple months now and I am in love! The shears he recommended were amazing and didn’t break the bank. The customer service was like nothing I’ve experienced. Pro tip pick up the phone if they call lol. You guys are dope!

This is exactly the experience we hope people have. Thank you so much for sharing Maggie!

Highly recommend if you’re looking for quality shears and reliable service!

Communication has been excellent from start to finish. Ordered some new shears with them. The pair I originally chose ended up being out of stock, and they handled it so professionally and generously. They made sure I was taken care of and I couldn’t be happier with the outcome.

Highly recommend if you’re looking for quality shears and reliable service!
